THE RAGING CAJUN

History is repeating itself when it comes to the more recently adopted "tone" by the democratic ticket and its cohorts.  Several weeks ago, James Carville was quoted as saying "Obama has to get mad" meaning 'Obama has to get angry, mad as hell, insult us all by calling us "stupid" again, and go into the gutter with him these last few weeks.'  That's what Carville did for Bill Clinton in 1992.  He single-handedly stripped off all dignity and civility that remained in the political discourse and helped get Clinton elected, who's principal accomplishment was an eloquent letter dealing with why he should not be drafted, along with a bunch of non political conquests.  It worked because James Baker, Bush the father's campaign manager, paid little attention to him until it was too late, and because the economic recovery which was well underway, was not reported on until six weeks after the election, allowing Clinton, Carville and Stephanopoulos to insult us by calling us all "stupid."  Not even my mother called me that.
Barak Obama has even less to show for except limitless hubris, started doing the same song and dance that Carville composed for Bill, Hillary, Al and John.  Worst of all, James Carville has perfected the unconscionable practice promoting the theory that the principal job of a politician is to get re-elected, which is why Obama, shortly after elected by default to the Senate because his republican opponents blew themselves up in sex scandals, started to campaign for President, ignoring and forgetting that he was elected to serve others as well, not just himself.

The principal job of a politician, James, is to serve the interests of those who elected him or her.  Hopefully, John McCain and Sarah Pailin who certainly appear to believe in this definition, will manage to get that across loud and clear. People, all people, will easily understand that and respond accordingly.  We must not allow, by any and all means, the Carville doctrine of campaigning, to succeed again.  It will put us on the level with the third world when it comes to political discourse.  It's already difficult enough to stomach, as it is.

Carville's most recent angle has been to ad Carl Rove to George Bush and Dick Cheney, trying to minimize, zero out McCain and Palin. The Architect of the destruction of American politics continues to believe we’re stupid.  Everyone sees that McCain and Palin are nothing remotely close to Bush, Cheney and Rove, and we must harp on that more forcefully and loudly. As a hopeful note, we can all see that McCain's campaign management and media consultants are doing far better than any republican campaign has done since Watergate.
